Courses &
Lectures

At SFU, I teach a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate courses, including Politics of the Middle East, Divided Cities, Around the World through Film, and Analytic Approaches for International Studies during AY 2025.-2026.
Prior to joining SFU, at the LSE, I was the director of the MSc Programme in Gender and Gender Research, and the co-director of the MSc Programme in Gender, Development, and Globalisation. I convened the Independent Research Project Graduate Module, a compulsory course for MSc students, designed to provide students with an opportunity to pursue and produce self-directed research, and co-convened the core course for the MSc Programme in Gender, Development & Globalisation. I also contributed lectures to Gender Theories: An Interdisciplinary Approach, a compulsory course for our MSc students, and Gender, Knowledge, and Research Practice.
Over the years I have taught a diverse set of courses in a variety of institutions and national contexts. Here is a selection:
Syracuse University (Introduction to Sociology; Qualitative Methods in Sociological Research; Sociology of Sex and Gender); American University of Beirut (The Politics of Clothing: Unveiling the Veil; Gender & the City); UC Berkeley (Introduction to Gender).
